July 13, 2019

United Way of Whitley County is pleased to announce the presentation of $101,000 in Community Impact Grants to local programs and organizations serving residents of Whitley County.

Grant recipients were selected by a panel of community members and United Way of Whitley County’s Board of Directors. 19 grant applications were submitted, totaling $150,000 in requests. Programs and funding amounts were selected based on a series of factors designed to ensure the greatest return on investment for donors who support the community through their United Way contributions.

United Way of Whitley County focuses on Health, Education and Financial Stability as the three main impact areas for Impact Grant Awards. These areas seek to move individuals along the formal education continuum, augment the work of schools by providing tutoring, enrichment, or other supportive activities, move families toward self-sufficiency, fund programs that provide asset building activities, provide support to individuals seeking substance abuse programs and supporting organizations that promote quality health care and access to nutritious foods.

United Way of Whitley County’s Executive Director, Loretta Mottram, said, “These Community Impact Grants will impact the lives of thousands of people in our community. There are significant needs throughout the county and United Way is grateful to work within the community to provide for those needs through the generosity of our gracious donors. We are grateful to our donors who make a profound impact in the lives of many Whitley County residents through their financial contribution and dedication to ‘Living United’.”
