It is the goal of United Way of Whitley County to invest in programs and services that help move individuals into a life of self-sufficiency. Self-sufficiency involves earning an income that allows an individual to support themselves and their family, both for today, and through retirement. When individuals within the community are self-sufficient, it not only benefits the individual, but the community, as a whole.
Investing in individuals to help them develop a solid financial foundation for life is accomplished through the following:
- Focusing on moving families towards self-sufficiency
- Funding programs that provide asset building activities such as employability training, life skills training, and financial literacy
