How Many Diapers Does a Baby Need Each Day ?

Join United Way of Whitley County and BABE of Whitley County to provide babies in Whitley County a healthy start in life ! As part of United Way’s upcoming Day of Caring they have partnered with BABE of Whitley County, and several other local businesses, to conduct a diaper drive to help supply BABE with what is their most distributed item; DIAPERS !

An adequate supply of diapers for one baby is approximately 200 diapers PER MONTH!!  Families who struggle to make ends meet can also struggle to keep their baby in clean, dry diapers.  Diapers cannot be bought with food stamps or WIC vouchers and there is no direct governmental assistance that provides diapers to families in need.  Infants can use up to 12 diapers per day and toddlers up to 8 a day.  Leaving a baby or toddler in a wet diaper for many hours can cause illness and discomfort, and also prevents them from playing, learning, and growing.

In 2015, BABE of Whitley County distributed over 42,000 diapers to families in their program and is on their way to distributing even more in 2016 !  Join us to provide a much needed resource to BABE, and to babies, in Whitley County !

You can find drop off bins for diapers at the following locations throughout Columbia City:  Midwest America Federal Credit Union, Professional Federal Credit Union (ProFed), STAR Financial Bank on Frontage Road, Whitley County Chamber of Commerce and Whitley County Family YMCA.  In addition, Micropulse, Inc. is conducting a diaper drive within their organization, as well.

If you would like additional information on the diaper drive, or if you would like to hold a diaper drive at your place of business, please contact Cindy Baker at United Way of Whitley County for diaper drive supplies ! 260.244.6454 or email
