2019 Power of the Purse to Take Place May 9th

The United Way of Whitley County’s 2019 Power of the Purse will take place on May 9th at the Whitley County 4H Community Center. Power of the Purse is an exciting philanthropic tradition that has raised over $31,000 in support of childhood success in Whitley County, ensuring the community’s youngest residents are set up for a lifetime of success. Madeleine Baker, CEO of Early Childhood Alliance, will be the event’s Keynote Speaker. She will be sharing the critical role of early childhood success and the impact of this work throughout a child’s life. Emceeing the event this year is award-winning anchor Linda Jackson from Fort Wayne’s NBC.
This year’s event has over 50 designer purses and bags presented for raffle. Each year one purse is selected as the Power Purse. This bag gives its winner the power to make a difference with a $500 donation made in their name to a non-profit agency of their choice. Power Purse raffle tickets are $10. All other raffle tickets are $5 each or buy 10 get 2 free. For the first time ever, 2 Get Away Bags are available for raffle to anyone 18 years or older. These bags will be raffled off on May 7th. VIP Hour Guests will enjoy signature hors d’oeuvres and complimentary wine as the have the first look at the evening’s raffle items. VIP Hour begins at 5:00 pm and tickets are $65.00. General Admission will begin at 6:00 pm and tickets are $40. Tickets can be purchased online or at the United Way of Whitley County office.
